Street Skills

Many people are intimidated and discouraged by the way cars dominate the roadway. Through education and practice, build the confidence to ride your bike on city streets in traffic with our certified League Cycling Instructors (LCIs).
For the first time, Street Skills clinics are FREE on the South Coast.
THANK YOU to Measure A!

* STREET SKILLS CLINICS HOSTED AT 506 E. Haley St (every other month)

During the month of May, the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition is offering a special CycleMAYnia event called "Tour de Tent" (overnight camping trip in Carpinteria).

Everybody is welcome!

There are 3 separate pre-registrations: clinics 1 & 2 are free.

A small fee is requested for the Tour de Tent to cover campsite & food costs.

Get Your Bike Ready to Ride!  :

Pre-register online: Thursday, May 9th (7:00-9:00pm).

Tour de Tent participants can do last minute prep for the overnight camping trip on Saturday, May 11.

Become a confident rider

Understand your Rights & Responsibilities as a driver operating a bicycle safely and legally on public roadways. Most importantly, develop the ability to identify unsafe traffic situations and make decisions that can prevent crashes and collisions (classroom session, no bike is necessary)

* WORKPLACE CLINICS (in English or in Spanish)

Forward thinking companies are jumping on the bandwagon to promote Health & Wellness and Active Lifestyle programs for their employees.

The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition will come to your workplace or community group to teach a one-hour workshop covering laws, skills and basic gear. This is a great introductory session for people who are new to bicycling or interested in learning more.

SBBC has several options for workplace audiences that include "lunch & learn" presentation and a practical session on a bike. The structure of these sessions is very flexible.

Contact Christine to learn more.

* CUSTOM CLINICS

The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition will work with you. A class is six participants: if you can put together six people, SBBC will arrange to have a certified League Cycling Instructor teach you just anything bike-related (ins and outs of commuting on a bicycle, riding in traffic...)

Contact Christine to schedule your custom clinic

Example: Boy Scout troop hosted 3 private sessions at Elks Lodge in Goleta.
